Life....in general

I am on the countdown. 2 sleeps till I am on a plane on my own heading to my parents for 2 nights before heading down to Sydney to go to COLOUR 2011 with some wonderful girls. In all I will have 6 sleeps away from home! Can you believe it? I never thought I'd ever go to something like Colour as I've never been a huge fan of Hillsong but I need some Woman time...some refreshing of my soul and heart that can only come from being with your girlfriends. So what better opportunity than a Womens Conference...that is all about ONE Love, ONE Heart, ONE Sisterhood.

My dear husband who has been struggling lately with going to work then coming home and looking after the kids while I go out to band, singing rehearsals, exercise etc etc is so very kindly taking a week off work so that he can be home with the kids. Though he has a crazy plan of taking them for a drive to visit his good mate about 8hrs away! We'll see how that goes!! I have been trying to encourage him to find some activities that HE would like to do here and I do agree with him that there is limited things, esp being in his role in the town here. However he has agreed to go and play tennis fixtures and after his first game last week he came home excited which made me so happy. I really hope this is something that he can continue with and make some friends as well.

In other news, we have some big events coming up in our house as well. Mike turns 40 soon!!! My goodness....and for that event we have his parents coming to stay with us for just under 2 weeks! What fun...hopefully I can pull off a great party for him. Chloe has started saying some more words...Mumma, and nee - naa when she drives the little police car. Lachlan is trying to teach her Lachy and some days she makes a word like it and he gets very excited. He was Student of the Week last week at school - for always trying his hardest. He can now write his own name and he loves doing that all around the house! Josh is loving school and is really getting into writing and reading...especially now he knows all his sight words.

Well thats all from me at the moment....When I come back from Colour I will update again.

A New Year

So here it is 2011. And another 3 months have passed since I last blogged. Where does the time go.

I am going to endeavour to be a bit more regular in my posting this year. Well...i can only hope hey!

So the boy Josh is now in Year 1 and the boy Lachlan is now in Prep. They are in the same class here and have a different teacher from last year. They seem to be going ok and the teacher and aide have certainly noticed how different they are to each other.

The girl Chloe turned 2 a few days ago!!! I still remember frequently her start to life and how busy we were and even just last night saying to a friend that I don't know how on earth we survived it like we did. She has started going to Daycare one day a week as I have returned to work. She is slowly getting used to it as this is her first time really away from me in an unknown environment. Hopefully she will come to enjoy it.

Yes thats right....after 2 years at home I have gone back to teach. Well..relief days anyway which then led to a 1 day a week contract for the rest of the year. Perfect. I am doing intervention with a few children which is great and then in the boys class for an hr.

The husband is doing well. He is busy with work and study.

I have lots more to say but I will save it for future posts!

Friendship

So we have been in our new home for 5 months now. I think we are settling in ok...the kids are enjoying school and kindy and have made some friends. Josh is very much looking forward to going up to Year 1 next year and Lachlan is VERY ready to head to Prep next year. They will be in the same class as its a Prep/1 so I hope that it goes smoothly both for them and their teacher.

I have joined the local band called "Court in Session", as we practice in the Court House. We have a drummer (the Sgt here), 4 guitars - 3 teachers and 1 of the hairdressers and me on the keyboard. I am enjoying it and getting better each practice.

Now i thought that being in the band might get me some more friends....not that i joined for that reason but I thought it might help. But it hasn't yet.
So here I am....alone on a Saturday as the husband is out of town for work and feeling quite sorry for myself.

I thought I was making some tentative friendships but maybe i'm not. This week has been hard. Its hard seeing other people have lunches out and me thinking...i wonder if i'll get to do that one day....its hard listening to people talk about parties going on and wonder when i'll get an invite myself. Its hard.

I know we've only been here a short time and we'll be here for a lot longer and that by the time we leave i'll hopefully be saying goodbye to some good friends. But in the meantime it sucks.

So a friend of mine suggested that I take the initiative. So I am going to plan my own party...a ladies something. And maybe from that some friendships might be made. And maybe the other ladies might feel more comfortable in inviting me to something of theirs. Its worth a try anyway.

Back again

Well here I am again...its been awhile.

So we have made the big move to Tambo and I am enjoying it here. It is so different from the Big Smoke..we walk everywhere here - to school, kindy, the shop, the PO.
This might even help me get a bit fitter and healthier....but not if I keep eating a packet of clinkers a day!! (yep i ate a whole packet yesterday...must've been the cold, rainy day)!!!

Change is in the air

Well I am back...It has been awhile since I have blogged on here as we were on holidays. But now I am back...with some news. It is exciting news for our family, a great opportunity. We are moving. Way away from all our friends. To a town called Tambo, 800 or so km's from where we are now, nearly in the middle of QLD. Its a small town, with about 450 people. So it will be a huge change for us all.

So on this my first day back after 5 weeks away from friends I sit here and am feeling a little sad, a bit scared but still excited about what will come in the next few weeks. I have only about 2 weeks left here till we move.

I will miss my dear friends that I have made since we moved here nearly 3 years ago. I am so glad that internet and phones are around these days, along with Paypal, online shopping and Australia Post!

Our Holiday

Here is a link from our driving holiday to Perth. We are nearly at the end of it...we have travelled around 12000kms in 5 weeks. Crazy. We are ready to be home again but have had an amazing time away, this country we live in has some spectacular scenery. God has certainly created a special place where we live.

Well the holidays are fast approaching...and for me...its not just the school holidays.

We are off on an adventure!! A very long adventure!!

Yes some might call us crazy, but we are heading off on a driving holiday...to Perth.

Yep..you read correctly...from QLD to WA..with 3 children...towing a camper trailer!

And you know what!! We can't wait! It will be so much fun.

So we are having a breakthrough at school!

No Time Out and no points lost for 3 days in a row!! How exciting! The teacher is relieved and I am too. Hopefully he can keep it up....

We have told him there is a treat for 5 days in a row.

You know that feeling you get when you suddenly think you have taken on more than you can chew? Well I got that feeling.

So I have decided to postpone my Tupperware career until June, when hopefully life will be slightly less crazy.

And after making that call....I felt so much better...like I could breathe again. Ah.

My Son

Well here we are on Day 11 of Prep and what a ride so far. On Day 9 I got a call from his Teacher to chat about his behaviour. Imagine my reaction then when I arrive at school to collect him and am told that he spent the last session in the Principals office with another boy.

Wow....I felt sad, upset, embarrassed and totally at a loss with my parenting skills. It's days and weeks like these that I struggle to like my son. Yes I love him...but at the moment I am finding it hard to like him. He can be such a charmer sometimes, kind and helpful...but all I see now is the naughty him...the tired, tantrum throwing boy who is rude to his mother. And he's only 5.

I don't want him to end up as the child who is left out at school because the other kids don't like him, or missing out on parties because they don't want him there. I need to like him more...and in liking him more...I am sure I will love him more too and when i love him more........ it just goes round doesn't it.

So how do I like him more?

Today was Day 11 and it was better at school today. The teacher said you could really see that he was trying all day and only got Time Out once in the afternoon. So that's a start.

The Dentist

Well my morning was meant to be spent doing some washing and cleaning up around the house but so far it has not happened!

No...instead I have been spending money...far too much money.

All because of a trip to the dentist. I lost the back of my wisdom tooth this morning and luckily for me (I think) I was able to get in straight away after I finished the Prep and Kindy run. So an hour later with a numb cheek and lips I am home, with a much lighter bank account. Gah I hate dentists.

So .... my house is still a shambles this morning after all my good intentions. Oh well...there is always tomorrow!

Welcome to The Shamble Inn. My very first blog. I named it thus as it is a very good description of my life in general most days! I am not sure what will be blogged about but I have a few big and exciting things that will be happening in my life this year which will keep me busy and therefore I am sure give me lots to post about.

I am a very busy wife and mum. I have 3 children...Boy 1 (J) is 5yrs old and has started Prep this year. Boy 2 (L) is 3.5 yrs old and is at Kindy. Girl 1 (C) is nearly 1 and is just a delight to have at home. I am sure you will get to know my3lovelies very well over time.

I like to bake, read, sew, eat.....but not clean. I hope to show you some of my creations soon.
